About Us
About Nanhua College of Industry and Commerce (NHCIC)

Nanhua College of Industry and Commerce (NHCIC) is a tertiary education institution officially approved by the Guangdong Provincial Government and registered with the Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1993 based on the Cadre School of the Guangdong Federation of Trade Unions (GDFTU). As the first non-government-funded college inGuangdong, it is privately run but owned by the GDFTU and led by the Communist Party of China.
The college currently accommodates 11,000 students in three campuses (Tianhe, Huangpu and Qingyuan), which covers a total area of more than 181 acres and 174,000 square metres of floor space. The Tianhe campus lies in the accessible downtown district of Guangzhou. The Huangpu campus is located in the southeast ofGuangzhouand is connected by bridge to the Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center. The Qingyuan campus is situated in the urban district of Qingyuan, about an hour drive north of downtownGuangzhou. It covers an area of 164 acres and is equipped with excellent facilities.
The college is committed to vocational education and Union cadre education, as well as furthering education and training for vocational qualifications. It consists of 2 schools and 6 departments, offering 28 programmes and clusters of programmes in 10 disciplines such as economics, technology, law and management. Customs Declaration and International Freight Forwarding, and Accounting (Registered Accountant) are all key provincial-level programmes. Other leading programmes include Financial Management and Practice, Business Administration, Architecture Decoration Engineering, Business English, Computer Network Technology, and Tourism Management. With the support of the GDFTU and its cadre training resources, the Department of Law and Public Affairs offers 3 programmes in the discipline of labour relations, namely, Social Work, Community Management and Service, and Labour Relations Management. Our GDFTU background gives these programmes a distinct advantage over other college programs.
The college actively seeks international cooperation and offers Applied Korean and the Sino-Korean Trade programmes in partnership with Korean universities including Busan University of Foreign Studies,TongmyongUniversity,DonggukUniversity, andSillaUniversity. Upon graduation from NHCIC, students may continue their study for a degree in one of these respected universities. So far, over 400 of our students have studied inKorea. In addition, we work withDhurakijPunditUniversityinBangkokThailandin offering the Sino-ASEAN Trade programme, which opened for applications in 2014.
The college offers State Scholarships, Freshman Scholarships, Freshman Grants, and GDFTU Grants. Some enterprises in our partnership provide financial aid of ¥18,000 for each of their student trainees.
Our philosophy of education combines vocational and liberal education, empowering our students with specialized knowledge and skills as well as a broad range of transferable skills, and a strong sense of values and ethics. Our motto is “Realistic and Practical, Diligent and Studious, Healthy and Balanced, Cultured and Self-Respecting”.
We have been building college-industry partnerships to create more hands-on opportunities for students. As of 2014, we have established 156 practical training facilities and 10 customized training programmes with a number of famous enterprises. In 2011, the Department of Tourism Management received the “Best College-Industry Partnership award” in a national competition for its partnership with the Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Centre (GZBICC). In 2014, two of our training bases were included in a provincial building project of off-campus higher vocation training bases. One is the GZBICC base, and the other is the Department of Finance's base at Guangzhou Lingfeng Communication Technology Co. Ltd.
Thanks to the hard work of our staff, we have achieved considerable progress in all aspects of education in the past two decades. In recent years, our graduate employment rate has remained above 98%. So far, we have had over 40,000 graduates. Most of them are the backbone of their companies and respective fields of business, which gives their alma mater a great reputation and respect. After being accredited in 2006 by the Ministry of Education, we continued to enhance our competitiveness by raising the level of our academic courses. Our effort was rewarded with a series of honours such as the titles of "Civilized Unit of Guangdong" and "Model Unit of Guangdong".
